A Progressive Community of Faith in the Heart of Central Florida

Board of Missions

Board of Missions coordinates the church’s mission program by participating or donating funds to local community groups and the 5 United Church of Christ  requests.  Many of our church members are involved in community organizations dealing with homelessness, LGBTQ rights, racial issues, foster children, mental health, support for seniors and pet rescue to name a few. Each month church members provide an evening meal to the residents of Interfaith’s homeless shelter.  We collect food and hygiene items throughout the year for both Interfaith and the Homeless Student Liaison program. We inform the church members of social justice issues and promote programs of action when necessary. Further, our church responds to local, state, county, and international emergency needs.

Outreach

On the first Sunday of each month, a special "Bread Basket" offering is received for outreach projects, such as:  bereavement support groups, Church World Services, Good Samaritan Fund, Interfaith Emergency Services, United Church of Christ special offerings, and Widowed Persons Services.  Our church members also give of their time and talents to these groups and other outreach organizations.

Fellowship

Each Sunday, after church services, we gather outside in our Hospitality Shelter for refreshments. This is a time to greet visitors, meet members, and to share time with one another. Refreshments are provided.

Other opportunities for fellowship include covered dish suppers, special appreciation dinners, Thanksgiving dinner, special outings, and other social programs.

We also have a Women's Fellowship group that meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Enrichment Center, and we have three Women's Fellowship Circle meetings, which also meet monthly on varying days.

Service

Opportunities exist in worship, music, education, leadership, outreach, finance, church growth, property management, fellowship, youth events, Women's Fellowship meetings, men's gatherings, and wherever there is a need.  Brochures and more information are available at the church office. Many of our church members join the Bridges Project of Marion County and the monthly Friday Forum meetings.

AA Meetings
